The Moray eel (*Muraena helena*) has an elongated, eel-shaped body, robust and slightly compressed towards the tail. It features a short head with a well-developed mouth that is almost always open, and no pectoral fins. Its coloration ranges from marbled patterns to nearly black. Found along rocky bottoms from just a few meters down to 80 meters, it can grow up to 1.3 meters in length.
