Located in Tung Sri Mueang field, at the heart of Udon Thani, San Lak Mueang (City Pillar Shrine) was established in 1999 and is deeply respected by the townspeople. The shrine is believed to be the dwelling place of the city’s guardian spirit, making it a spiritual and cultural centerpiece.

Built in the contemporary Isan style of architecture, the complex also features the statue of Wetsuwan, the province’s guardian deity represented in the official seal of Udon Thani. With the city pillar at its center, symbolizing strength and protection, San Lak Mueang continues to inspire devotion and remains a vital part of the city’s identity.
