HTMS Khram – Artificial Reef Wreck, Pattaya

The Royal Thai Navy scuttled the decommissioned warship HTMS Khram near Koh Phai and Koh Larn, off Pattaya, to create an artificial reef and breeding ground for marine life. The project was carried out in honor of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn’s 50th birthday.

Originally built as the USS LSM-469 and later transferred to Thailand on 25 May 1962, the vessel served for more than 60 years before being retired. Sunk in 2003, HTMS Khram now rests in about 30 meters of water, 300 meters from Koh Phai, where it attracts divers and marine biodiversity alike.
