Tunicates

Tunicates – Marine Invertebrates

Tunicates are marine invertebrate animals belonging to the subphylum Tunicata, part of the phylum Chordata, which also includes all animals with dorsal nerve cords and notochords. Once referred to as Urochordata, tunicates are unique filter feeders that play an important role in marine ecosystems. Their unusual forms, textures, and vibrant colors make them remarkable subjects for underwater and macro photography.
