Squirrelfish – Nocturnal Reef Dwellers

Squirrelfish are nocturnal schooling fish, easily recognized by their brilliant red coloration, large eyes adapted for low light, and spiny dorsal fins. Their name comes from their ability to produce a squirrel-like sound using their swim bladder. By day, squirrelfish often hide in caves or crevices, while at night they emerge to feed. Their vivid colors and unique features make them fascinating subjects for underwater photography.
