Parrotfish – Scaridae
Parrotfish are tropical marine fish of the family Scaridae, abundant on shallow coral reefs in the Red Sea, Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. The family includes around 90 species in ten genera. Named for their unique dentition, parrotfish have tightly packed teeth fused into a beak-like structure, which they use to scrape algae from coral and rocky surfaces. Known for their vivid colors and important role in reef ecosystems, parrotfish are both striking and ecologically vital, making them captivating subjects for underwater photography.
