Garfish – Belone belone
The garfish (Belone belone), also known as the sea needle, is a pelagic needlefish found in the Eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Baltic Seas, as well as in brackish waters. Slender and elongated, garfish often reach lengths of 2 to 3 feet (around 90 cm). They swim close to the surface and follow a migratory pattern similar to mackerel, arriving slightly earlier to spawn. Their needle-like body and elegant form make them distinctive and striking subjects for underwater photography.
