Wat Phra Sri Sanphet – Ayutthaya’s Royal Temple
Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, located on Ayutthaya’s city island within the UNESCO World Heritage Park, was once the most important temple of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Established within the grounds of the Grand Palace, it served as the royal chapel and a model for the later Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok. Registered as a national historic site in 1935, the temple is famed for its three elegant chedis, which remain iconic symbols of Ayutthaya’s golden age.
